bean got a cabbage patch baby for her birthday last year. she has the same birthday as bean (my mother-in-law searched for one with that birthday!). bean fell in love with her right away. her name is aubrie.
bean loved her right from the start. if you asked, "where is aubrie?" she would go look for her and bring her back. she would feed her bottles and "applesauce" with a spoon. she was quite the little mommy.
then after a few months, bean really started talking... A LOT. she called the cabbage patch "aww-bee". i was impressed with her pronunciation.
a few months passed. suddenly "aww-bee" became "wawh-bee". why??? why did she change the pronunciation? and more importantly, why did the pronunciation get worse? hmmm. i decided to let it go, i mean it is a doll after all, she can call it what she wants. she then got another baby for christmas, and named her kaia. and she loved her too. she often doesn't know who to play with!
yesterday she called her cabbage patch "aubrie". what?! why did it suddenly change to the correct pronunciation? i guess it is part of this sudden "grown up" spurt she is going through. she is a little girl, not a baby. am i sad? not really. do i miss things about her being little, but at the same time the "being big" is exciting. we can do so much more together now. she is beginning to understand the world around her. she is curious. she wants to know things. you know, i think i've decided that i think 2 is a great age to experience!
