we are sitting around listening to music. the kids are dancing. they bounce around to bluegrass (hysterical). they bopped around to the disco channel (cute). then daddy turned to some hip hop. the second song that came on was "push it". i said, "hey (bean), you know you sings this song?"
"no," she says.
"salt and peppa!" i say.
there is a pause where the kids are randomly jumping and shaking their booties. then she turns to me and says...
"salt and pepper from blue's clues sing this?!?"
bwah ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

The Resolution or How Jenny McCarthy Kicked My Ass... Twice.
So... way back yonder in january of 2009 i decided to get my act together and get rid of the baby weight... ok fine, it was mostly the "can't stop stuffing my pie hole with delicious treats weight". i've NEVER had any luck with these types of endeavors so i wasn't expecting too much. but i made a promise to eat less (read: eat normal sized portions) and actually exercise. and, holy cow, in 6 months i lost 17 pounds!
then summer came... sigh.
see, summertime here is hectic and full of vacations and parties and what not. also, i hate being hot (and sweaty, ewww!) so i don't enjoy being outside and therefor i don't get as much exercise as i should. PLUS the husband is home all summer (he is a teacher) and, well, i eat more when he is around. (what is wrong with me!) my routine was GONE. and by the time fall came i'd been out of my routine for long enough that i couldn't get back into it. that and "the sadness" hit... HARD.
long story short: i gained 7 of those pounds back in the last 6 months. boo! i guess i shouldn't be too terribly upset though... i could have gained it ALL back.
now i've decided that my resolution for 2010 is to get back into this routine that i "lost" 6 months ago. to lose that 7 pounds plus a good 10 more. to have more energy. to be more fun to be around. to do more than plant my ass in front of the laptop for hours at a time for goodness sake!! and i told myself i would ease myself into it...
ah, famous last words.
this past week i got out my new wii "your shape with jenny mccarthy" and set it up. i was all this will be great blah, blah, blah. it is going to be fun blah, blah, blah. like a game even! woo go me!
anyways, jenny had me scheduled for a 15 minute workout and i thought to myself, "you know that it would be much better for you to do 30 minutes and you've worked out for 30 minutes before there is no reason why you can't!" ummm....
after doing 30 minutes of cardio with jenny my heart rate was somewhere around the "exploding out of my chest" level. i'm fine after a short rest but, dude, that kicked my ass. of course, what can you expect when you HAVEN'T EXERCISED IN 6 MONTHS, moron!
so two days later...
jenny has me scheduled for an abs workout. let it be known that i have crappy abs. my core is beyond weak. so did i set the workout back to 15 minutes? OH OF COURSE I DIDN'T! i recklessly dive into a 30 minute ab workout that nearly killed me. (ok, so that is a slight exaggeration, but really, it sucked) i wanted to stop SO BAD. i looked at jenny and said "for the love of pete woman NO MORE SIDE CRUNCHES!" but apparently she can't hear because she just kept right on with the crunches.
and you are saying to yourself, "why didn't she just stop already and be done with it?" well, it ain't because i was so dedicated or anything cool like that. it is because she knows if i quit, she will know that i FAILED. how?? it is because of the little camera that is WATCHING ME WORKOUT. you know, the little camera that lets jenny know that i'm doing the exercise wrong so that she can "correct my form". the little camera that let's jenny know when i stop moving so that she can "motivate" me into continuing. the little camera that lets me SEE WHAT I LOOK LIKE WHEN I AM EXERCISING.... and none of you will be exercising with me anytime soon. trust me when i say NO ONE wants to see that!! gah!
i don't know if this is a really great workout or not. the jury is still out on that. all i have really learned is that i'm terribly out of shape AND i clearly don't know how to "ease myself into" things. ;)
