Oh dear.....

oh i really did it this morning! i accidentally referred to sprout as a "him". this upset my little bean quite a bit.
"no mommy, babers is a girl! you called her "him", him's are boys," she tells me.
"honey, we don't know what baby is. baby might be a girl or baby might be a boy. we won't know until the baby comes out," i gently explain.
"i think babers is a girl," she says.
"well, what will you do if baby comes out and is a boy?"
"i probably will hit him," she says. (what?!?! this is a surprise. she doesn't hit and knows we have rules about hitting.)
"no, you cannot hit the baby. that isn't nice. and it isn't the baby's fault that you didn't get what you want. we don't get to choose what kind of baby we get. i think that you will love a brother just as much as a sister," i tell her.
"i don't think so mommy. i want a sister girl baby."

the conversation went on like this for several more minutes. i finally just gave up. she won't stop expressing animosity for the possible baby brother in mommy's tummy. her mind is made up, baby IS a girl and there is no changing it.
you don't think she'd really hit the baby, do you? nah, she'll love the baby once she sees it...... right?

Totally she will love the baby anyway. And you never know, maybe it will be a girl and initial crisis averted. Us girls can just be so fickle sometimes...luckily we almost always come around... :)

This is both funny and not funny at the same time. (Not funny as I'm still worried how Bryce is going to react to a baby period, regardless of the gender.)

I remember being pregnant with Bryce and telling my nephews (who live next door) that the baby might be a girl. My 3 year old nephew said, "Well if it is, we'll move!" LOL! Kids are strange about things like that sometimes.

Lauren really wanted a baby sister too, when we were pregnant. I just kept reminding her over and over that the baby could be a boy.
When her brother arrived, she didn't seem to care. She was too excited about holding "her" baby.
I'm sure once Bean sees your new one, she won't care about it's gender, either.

First, I love "babers." Awww, so cute!!

And yes, I do think she'll adore this baby whether it's a sister or brother. I have a friend who's now pregnant with her third; 2 girls and now this one's a boy. The second time around, her older daughter was deadset on a boy, said she'd hate a sister, yada yada. Now she adores her of coruse and is bummed that the new baby won't be another sister.

And, there's a 50% chance that Bean is right and crisis averted! But we want to know what YOU think about Sprouty's gender?!?!?
